Virtues in Zakah

Surah At-Taubah (9:58-60)

And among them are those who criticize you for giving sadaqah;

1. The hypocrites do not like to spend their wealth in the way of God because they love property very much and they do not expect a reward in heaven for the alms. And if other people give alms, they will make fun of it. They say, why is that person wasting his property giving to others. Therefore, the ones who are criticized are those who donate property or pay zakat.

2. The second meaning: there are some of them, who criticize those who distribute zakat. Some criticized the Prophet while the Prophet distributed zakat money. And there are also those who criticize him in the division of ghanimah. They said he was not fair. Indeed, he did not give equally.

He will give based on the needs of the person. If anyone needs more, he will give more. Sometimes the hypocrite can not be the same as everyone else. So they were noisy by saying that the Prophet Muhammad was not fair. This is very inappropriate because if he is not fair, who else can be said to be fair? They have no respect for him as Rasulullah.

Ibn Juraij said, has narrated to me Daud ibn Abu Asim who said that the Prophet. the arrival of zakat property, then the Prophet saw. divide it back and forth until it runs out. Suddenly a man from among the Ansar behind him said, "This is an unfair division." Then the verse came down.

From Abu Salamah, from Abu Sa 'id in the story of Zul Khuwaisirah (the little waist) whose real name is Hurqus. At that time he opposed the Prophet. who is sharing ghanimah Hunain. Hurqus said to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. So the Prophet. said: Indeed I would be disappointed and lose if I was unfair. Then Rasulullah Saw. said after seeing Hurqus go: Verily there will come out of the descendants of this people a race, which one of you will surely underestimate his prayers compared to their prayers, and his fast with their fasting. They come out of religion as arrows penetrate their targets. Wherever you find them, kill them, for they are indeed the most wicked carcasses under the sky.

If they were given some of it, they would be happy

They are very worldly and materialistic. Therefore, if they are given part of the zakat, alms or ghanimah, they are very satisfied. At that time they will leave with a happy heart.

And if they were not given a portion of it, they would immediately become angry.

But if they are not given a share of the property, but given to others, they get angry. They became angry and rude. Though they are not given because they do not need and there are others who are more in need

If they were content with what Allah and His Messenger had given them,

God taught them what to do. If they were satisfied with what Allah gave and what the Prophet gave them, there would be good for them. This is what they should feel. Don't just look at the world.

and said: "God is sufficient for us,

Their hearts must be satisfied and their mouths must say: "Enough of us with God. It is Allah who will suffice us, not the giving of zakat, not the property of ghanimah, not alms from people. ” Do not want to expect gifts and get free things only.

Allah will give us of His bounty, and so will His Messenger,

If they could do that, surely Allah will increase His bounty and Rasulullah will give zakat to them

surely we are those who hope in Allah, "

In their hearts they must be convinced that they will all return to Allah. We are only sitting in the world for a moment. We hope in God alone in fact. We do not want that property but we actually want to meet God in heaven.

This should also be our attitude about property. Do not rely too much on property. Do not love wealth too much, but focus our hope on God.

There is a number of muqaddar in this verse: if they feel and say so, of course it is better for them.

However, that is not the case.
